A designated Heritage Coast and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has long sweeping beaches and the best bathing waters in the North East.

The Lonely Planet Blue List 2008, a respected travel publication, name North East England as one of the top 30 place to visit, with Berwick-upon-Tweed being singled out for the unique character of its exciting history and being the definitive border town.
